Applying to study abroad is usually a two-step process.

1) Students must apply to the Center for International Education for W&L approval of their study abroad plan, using the Application for Degree Credit for Off-Campus Study. Using this form, each student receives approval from the Center for International Education for the program and individual permission from the appropriate department head or academic dean at W&L for credit for each course taken abroad. The deadlines for applying to W&L for study abroad are as follows:

For Fall Term and Full Year study, the application deadline is March 20.

For Winter Term study, the application deadline is October 20.

For Spring Term study, the application deadline is February 1.

For Summer Term study, the application deadline is March 1.

Please note: if the deadline falls on a week end, the application is due on the last business day before the deadline.

2) Each student must also apply for admission to the sponsoring study abroad institution or program, by the program's stated deadline.
